Okay, so I've been trying to get Diablo II to work on my stupid computer and it just won't go. I've e-mailed the guys at Blizzard, but they just sent me a list of generic "answers" which I've tried a million times (oh, how I've tried). I've been playing at my boyfriend's house, but I don't really want to since I feel like I'm mooching off of him (and his brother's are so anal about everything that they scare me). ::SIGH:: And then I found some weird crap out about the new patch (in June I think). They're totally going to reset the ladders. No twinking. That means all the old characters, pre-1.10 patch, can only play in pre-1.10 patch games. They can't play in games created by new characters. Also, you can't mule your old shit into the new characters - they are totally INCOMPATIBLE!!!! GAH! Why must they do this to me????? I finally have a good character (my lvl 89 pally, aoi_tenshi) with the best shit (and I'm getting a new legit 1.08 Arkaine's Valor!!!!)......but it will have all meant nothing. I'm so sad now. First I wasn't able to play anywhere, now my characters are going to be useless... Why must the world screw me over at least once a week????

Maroon and silver is a nice combination.

So before I log off and eat, I wanna say HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY, RAY!!!!!! I woulda posted this sooner, but I was out with him that day/night. We went downtown to a really nice restaurant. I had a New York Strip steak, mashed potatoes, and broccoli, while he had this really nice looking shrimp fettuccini with bell peppers and some spicy sauce. Mmmmmm...I'm so hungry. Unfortunately, I'm short on cash (saving up for the con) so I couldn't get him a nice gift, but I'm gonna try to get him something at the con.

Ahhh! Shiekfreak is gone and is away somewhere far far away. I wish I could be there. ;P I'd try to tolerate Rich Bitch and spike her food or something so she takes a nap and I can wreak havoc everywhere. It'd be great. And then I'd buy all the candles possible. Mwahahahahahahahaha~ ....I don't know what I'm talking about anymore. Too hungry. Going away to eat my hotpocket. Yum....

As in the other journal, I want to put some quotes that are nice and philosophical. Here we go...

"To survive, all living things in the world fight desperately and devour those they defeat... Must one kill other living things in order to survive? Must one destroy another world in order to allow one's own world to continue? The wounded in the turn wound and torment those weaker than they themselves are... There are only the killers and the killed... The sinners, who are judged, and the victims that do the judging... What meaning is there to such a world?"
-Chrono Cross

"In a mad world only the mad are sane."
"The failed mind sees the heart's failings."
-Kyoami ("Ran")

"Spinning complacently in the darkness, covered and blinded by a blanket of little lives, false security has lulled the madness of this world into a slumber. Wake up!! An eye is upon you, staring straight down and keenly through, seeing all that you are and everything that you can never be. Yes, an eye is upon you, an eye ready to blink. So face forward, with arms wide open and mind reeling. Your future has arrived...are you ready to go?"
-J.P. Saticoy ("An Eye is Upon You," 1947)

"I am the eggman! I am the walrus!"
-Lunar: Silver Star Story

Whew, happy thinking!

    <lj:music>NIN - Legend of Zelda Theme (Live)</lj:music>

Okay, so last night I stayed up till 5 playing video games. What exactly was I playing???? A Japanese box-moving game. Oooooh. You know, the game where you have to move the boxes into the marked areas. It gets pretty difficult, though. I spent like 15 minutes trying to figure out how to do one of the puzzles when I gave up in frustration and went to sleep. Thank god for Gameboys.

I wanted to go out with Ray today to the arcade. Wouldn't have done us much good since we both need to save money. But I need to sate my hunger for Hiphopmania. Grrrr....that game is so addicting and needful of my attention.

Damn it. I need to buy a PS2 just for the Final Fantasy games. Even though I don't like the character designs (Tidus looks so funky) and whatnot (see a previous post- ...short Final Fantasy X/VIII rant). I have to at least try them out. Graphics don't make an RPG, gameplay and story do. Just look at Final Fantasy IV. Great storyline even if the graphics are outdated. Final Fantasy VI is the same, albeit with better graphics. The one thing that bugs me about that game is how the story dissolves during the World of Ruin, when you have to recruit all your characters again. Chrono Trigger is a great example. The graphics are outdated, but I find myself playing it over and over again just for the story and gameplay. I was playing it just yesterday. ^_^

Hmmm....I forgot what I was going to write...oh, well. I'll remember later and come back. ;P

    <lj:music>The Yellow Monkey - Barairo no Hibi</lj:music>

Seeing as how I usually write about my daily going ons in Angel in the Sky, I felt like this journal needed to be entertained by my gloomy life ::insert scary music::.

Today, my hubby, Ray, is going away on a trip far, far away to go camping with a guy that I don't like. For a week. To me, that's a long time. However, I probably won't notice since I have no sense of time (or direction). What bothers me is the fact that he's going to be with a guy that I really detest. It didn't use to be that way. I used to hang out with him all the time; we were pretty good friends. And then I found out what kind of a person he was. He didn't do anything bad to me or the like, it has to do with his personality and insecurity. I hung out with him because I thought he was different. We shared common interests (anime, video games, Japanese culture and history). It turned out that he was like every other person in the world, but worse. He was interested in all those things because he wanted to look cool; he wanted people to like him more. And that disgusts me.

You don't become interested in something just so that people can like you. It cheapens the experience. My friend Kuma shares an interest in mythology and Japanese history with me, and his interest is genuine; he gets completely wrapped up in discussions about these things and you can tell how strongly he feels about them. That's why I like him. People that are so insecure that they have to pretend to have an interest in things need to learn how to be themselves. I'm interested in a lot of things because I find them compelling, not because I want friends. It just happens to be a coincidence that a lot of people I know share my interests (like Ray).

...

Ray just called to say one last good-bye (maybe). Gah, I'm gonna miss that dork. Well, at least I have his last two DVDs of Cowboy Bebop (even though he has 3 of my Rurouni Kenshin DVDs...). ::sigh:: Well, while he's gone, I'm gonna go into a reclusive state and vegetate on my couch playing video games and watching anime. If I'm still alive, I'll try to put in a post or two. Later people~

    <lj:music>X Japan - Kurenai</lj:music>

Whoa, dude, I like woke up at 6:00 pm yesterday and I'm still fuckin tired. ::grrr:: I gotta get my internal clock updated...

But anyway...

I just downloaded a bunch of roms for my MAME emulator: Bubble Bobble, Centipede, Digdug, Digdug 2, Double Dragon, Gauntlet, Gauntlet 2, Millipede, Paperboy, Parodius, R-Type, Raiden, and Twin Bee. I need to cut back on my gaming addiction. On the other hand, at least I have a somewhat healthy hobby...uh...

Yesterday, I had written my entire Argumentative Research Paper all in the morning; it was due at noon. I had been up the entire night and morning working on it. My goal was to write 8 pages. My subject was the Kyoto Protocol to prevent global warming. I was BSing the last few paragraphs until I had gotten that 8th page, with one sentence taking up that last page. And then I noticed...the font was at 10 when it should have been at 12. I changed it. ::poof:: I had 12 fuckin pages. ::argggggggg:: I didn't need to write that much, and I was running late. Oh, well. I turned it in and now I don't have to worry about English class until Monday when I have my final.

And then, after class, I hung out at the student center at my school to RP with my friends. (We're playing a D&D campaign. Nerdy, huh?) It was me, Ray, and 5 other guys (I was the only chick). My character is a half-elf ranger who is slightly psychotic (her "companion" is an imaginary blink dog, for heaven's sake). It was a ridiculous run. First, we came up against 15+ tree thingies (I don't remember what they were, they were from the Sunless Citadel book, which is the campaign we are running). That battle took forever. Well, at least until one of us decided to light one of the guys on fire, which pissed my character off. I was running around, hysterical, trying to get Ray's character to cast Frost Ray on the blaze. And then, after 4 hours or so, the GM decided to throw another battle at us. We came up to a gargoyle. What the hell is a freakin gargoyle doing in the middle of the forest like that???? The battle proved to be a little too difficult for us (our characters are new so we were all at level 2). My character, Imbri, is ambidxtrous with improved 2-handed weapon skills. I used my scimitar which caused a decent amount of damage. For my short sword, however, I rolled (I think) a natural 19 or 20 (for max damage) and then a 1. I rolled a d20 again and I rolled another 1 which meant I missed completely with my sword and shattered it on the gargoyle. Damn it. Oh, well, next Wednesday is another new game...::sigh::

Last night, after everything, I walked with my boyfriend to his house from the college which is pretty far (6+ miles). We had walked for about 2 hours I think, from 11:00-1:00 am. Along the way, I had seen a million freakin cockroaches! These things freak the hell outta me. I was actually prepared to jump on Ray and have him carry me along with all of his stuff. We eventually reached his place and I was there for maybe 10 minutes. Afterwards, we recharged on cookies and soda and he drove me over to my place where...::ahem::....anyway...

I'm gonna go and play some games. Ja na, minna-san.

Whoo-hoo! I just heard the news yesterday about the PS release of Final Fantasy IV and Chrono Trigger. FFIV will be like the Final Fantasy Anthologies games, with OP and ED FMVs. One big bonus for everybody is that we're not getting the "easy-type" version of the game (the version that was originally released for the SNES), we're getting the original version of the game, complete with PORN BOOK! Joy! "Rydia is all mine now! Mine, you hear me!"

And then Chrono Trigger for the PS.

I almost crapped in my pants.

They had released the PS version over a year ago. It had anime cut scenes done by Dragon Ball God, Toriyama Akira. There was also the ED movie which linked the game with Chrono Cross, explaining many of the mysteries (like how did Kid show up? and whatever happened to Glenn?). My time has come! Soon, the world will be mine! Mwahahahahahahahaha~! ::ahem::

Watch the dancing Crono!
Okay, maybe it's the drugs I'm on for my illness, but does Tidus (main character from Final Fantasy X) look like a mix between Squall (facial structure), Zell (clothing), and Cloud (funky blondish hair)? Wow, those guys at Square must be on crack or something...

Yoshitaka Amano is a great artist. He does cool, funky-looking art that looks even funkier when you're on acid (not that I would know, no, really). He gave his characters...uh...character. I don't remember the current FF character designer (brain has shut down temporarily), but I'm not extremely fond of his work. Yes, I may be a bit biased (seeing as how Yoshitaka-sama is one of my gods), but take a look at the FFVIII character designs. Most of the characters look alike, well regarding the structure of the face. Take away the hair, color, and distinguishing marks and you have the same face (with the exception of Headmaster Cid, of course). I do like his art style, though. It goes for realism, contrasting Yoshitaka's surrealism. But to me, Final Fantasy is about surrealism. When exactly did the 'Fantasy' become 'Science'? I mean, I'm not saying that I have total hatred to the 'new' FF games, it's just that I miss those days of old, when we slew evil dragons and rode over hills of green on the backs of golden chocobos. ::sigh:: Anybody else miss that? FFIX kind of took us back to that, but we all knew it would probably be the last time we'd see a 'traditional' FF game.

I guess I deviated a bit from what I meant to do....maa iika~ ^_^

[ t e n s h i ]

Ahhhhhh! Dance Dance Revolution is extremely addictive and hazardous to _my_ health. That's my fault though, for playing it 6 hours straight ::pant::. Not good. Very not good. Oh well.

So I go online to check things out with some Final Fantasy shrines and whatnot, when I stumble onto a webpage filled to the brim with a bunch of crap. Within this wepage was a link to a forum for people from my college. It was here that I witnessed the devolution of my generation (I'm 18! whoo-hoo!). In one particular board, people were bitching about some other people that hang around their area. There were two groups they were crying about: typs and a group of people they refer to as "rejects." Now, let me explain, in San Diego, typs are people that drive import cars and are generally Asian. The people they refer to as "rejects" are people that play video games, RPGs, and are somewhat eccentric and brass. They justify their hatred to typs by saying that they are "all alike" and "do all the same things." They go on to say that they hate the "rejects" because they "are themselves." I kid you not. These narrow-minded idiots are condemning a group of people for being themselves. That is just moronic and so fuckin stupid! Who the hell do these people think they are?! Are they so high up on the hierarchical society of our school that they have the right to be completely rude and mean to a group of people because they act like human beings???? Argh.... me so mad now. I be back after I vent at them and crap up their page ::evil grin::.

    <lj:music>Radical Dreamers (Chrono Cross) - Noriko Mitose</lj:music>

Welcome to "Angelus Errare," 'Where Angels Lose Their Way.' This will be my video game/various rantings journal. My other journal, "Angelus ex Caelum" ('Angel within the Sky'), is more focused on anime and some more of my rantings.

Well, I'd like to start things off with an excerpt from one of my favorite games: Chrono Cross (where the title of my page derives).

"What was the start of all this?
When did the cogs of fate begin to turn?
*     *     *     *
Perhaps it is impossible to grasp that answer now,
From deep within the flow of time...
*     *     *     *
But for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...
*     *     *     *
Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
Whilst our laughter echoed,
Under cerulean skies..."

Chrono Cross is a great game period. I find myself enthralled with the beauty of the words and the brilliant colors of the scenes. However, I may have a biased opinion since my favorite game, overall, is Chrono Trigger, the first of the series. Having waited five years for a sequel, I was overexuberant when this game came out. Although Akira Toriyama (the creator of Dragonball and original character designer of the first game) wasn't included in this project, the artwork was gorgeous, nonetheless.
Why am I talking about Chrono Cross now? One year after the release? Well, having been bored with most of my other games, I found myself playing it in New Game+ mode. Even after knowing almost everything about the storyline, I'm drawn to the overwhelming feeling of nostalgia. Hell, just a few hours ago, I popped Chrono Trigger into my aging (yet fully operational) SNES to relive some old memories. <sigh>

Well, I bid you adieu (for a few hours or so, anyway) as I go off into the night, in search of lost dreams and beautiful women. Ja~
